DISCERNING SPIRITUAL WISDOM
(VIVEKA)

BECOMING WISE
As we develop spiritually then we MUST apply wisdom to all our actions and behaviours. As we study and practice we WILL open our heart chakras and this is a beautiful and wonderful thing, BUT we MUST BE WISE in how we relate to other souls.
Is everybody doing the same as souls on a spiritual path are?
NO, of course not, so don't expect others to understand or behave in virtuous and spiritually enlightened ways.
We are developing A WISE HEART and mind, and a wise heart knows how to behave correctly. If you try to relate to other souls that have not;
- understood themselves
- purified themselves
- Developed morally and ethically
- Opened their heart chakras
- Holistically developed and evolved
...then be prepared to be in for A VERY NASTY EXPERIENCE, that WILL END IN TEARS, and sadly for some, it ends in the termination of this life.
VIVEKA: discerning wisdom
Knowing the difference between wise and unwise choices.
To behave appropriately and understand others in all social circumstances; work, social life, friends, family, relationships, and romantic relationships, requires the development of Viveka (discerning wisdom). What is the discerning bit? It simply means the ability to know the difference between right and wrong, good and bad, what is appropriate and not appropriate, and how to relate to all the different types of souls that we meet in our life.
UNDerstanding what is appropriate
Can we love somebody that abuses and violates us? No. We may feel empathy, compassion, and love towards that person, but we need to leave them to sort out their problems and not take it out upon us. That is Viveka. Understanding appropriate social interaction.
If you have a strong conscience (and you will if you develop your heart chakra) then it is thus unwise to work for an armaments company or a company that supports violence and harmful behaviours in any area of life.
If you are clean and take good care of yourself then it is unwise to begin a relationship with somebody who is the opposite. If you really feel that you love somebody who has attitudes and behaviours that you have an aversion to, then ask them to change and wait a while to see if they change, BUT DON'T WAIT TOO LONG. If they really feel that same way that you do, then they will make every effort to keep you in their life, and they will change. If they don't then you know that they don't really feel the same way as you do.
VIVEKA and age
Souls have different karmas and different levels of evolution, yet we are currently here in the same soul-school, learning that which we have to learn. Some souls do progress and they get wiser with age. Some stagnate or get worse and they do not get wiser with age.
What is spiritually wise?
Personally i believe that a spiritually wise soul will have gone a long way in mastering the human experience, will have developed and purified their life, will act in socially appropriate ways, will know about the spiritual heart, will have some experience of the individual soul, and will most certainly have considered the transcendental/spiritual dimension of life.
Viveka: Quotes from The Bhagavad Gita
In the Bhagavad Gita, the student called Arjuna ask Krishna (The Highest Self/God) to describe a soul that has spiritual wisdom (Viveka). Krishna answers thus:
Chapter Two: The Yoga of Wisdom
2:55
A person who has let go of all selfish personal desires and is utterly content in the truth of Atman - identified thus with The One Eternal True Self - is one of steady wisdom.
2:56
A person undisturbed by difficulties, who doesn't yearn to be happy, who has no favourites, no fear and no anger, is a sage of steady wisdom.
2:57
Whoever is free of all mental attachments, who is not excited when good things happen nor dejected when bad things happen, is poised in wisdom.
